We are so excited to partner with so many amazing stores on our journey around California.  We asked each of these lovely stores to give us a bit more info on what makes their store unique and what things they love.  Check out the first 4 stores on our trip:

What makes your store special? My staff and I are all experienced knitters, crocheters, spinners and weavers, and we are all fanatical about the crafts. When we are not creating ourselves we love to talk about all of these crafts and we enjoy helping others pick out their next project. All of my employees have been with me for six to ten years, we are family, and we enjoy welcoming others into our friendly comfortable space that we have created. So, I would say we have great customer service and an amazingly large selection of yarn.

What is your favorite yarn?  I would say Fibre Company yarns. I love all their yarns and designs, I think Courtney and Kate are doing a fantastic job!

What is your favorite place to eat in your area? We are lucky to have these three great independent restaurants nearby:
The Cave is walking distance, it offers a nice lunch of panini’s and salads. It also offers wine tasting (a plus) and a retail wine shop.
Royal Bakery offers great sandwiches, quiche and salads, with some great desserts to top off your lunch, also walking distance, but might want to drive. Santa Cruz Mexican Restaurant is right across the street, with a full menu of great Mexican food.

Do you have anything special planned for the Yarnover Truck visit? We are collaborating with the Yarnover Truck to offer a shawl designed by our staff using yarn from Yarnover Truck and Anacapa Fine Yarns. We are just in the design stage of this project, but I am sure it will be fabulous!!

What yarns can customers find in your shop? The list is too long to include here, some of the companies that we carry are: Malabrigo, Madelinetosh, Fibre Co, Anzula, Ewe Ewe, Noro, Manos, Juniper Moon Farms, Plymouth, Berroco and more. We carry a wide variety of hand-dyed yarns, value yarns and everything in between.

What is your favorite things to knit or crochet? It often doesn’t matter what I am knitting as long as I am knitting. Lately, I’ve worked on toys for my grand-niece, shawls, hats and slippers. Every box of yarn I open up inspires me to start yet another project!

Is there parking at your store? Plenty of parking

What makes your store special? With over 90 brands represented, it’s a virtual UN of yarn, roving, weaving, felting, and spinning supplies. It’s really about the experience as well as finding those yarns and fibers you just can’t find anywhere else.

What is your favorite yarn?  The one in our hands!

What is your favorite place to eat in your area?  We counted and there are over 35 independently owned places to eat in Cambria, 25 of them within easy walking distance of the shop. It’s an embarrassment of riches for such a small town. We’re hard pressed to pick just one. It’s more about what you’re looking for.

Do you have anything special planned for the Yarnover Truck visit?  Kira K, designer from the SF Bay Area will be in the shop with her trunk show, and she’ll be doing 3 short classes in Knit and Crochet!

Monarch Knitting – Thursday April 30th 10am – 5:30pm

What makes your store special? Monarch Knitting is a happy place! We pride ourselves on having wonderful customer service and being a place where people feel welcome. We love to answer questions and encourage our customers to try new things and expand their “knitting knowledge”. Our store is neat and well organized and, hopefully, a place where people love to come for inspiration, fun projects and events.

What is your favorite yarn?  That is a tough one because I love Sweet Georgia, Shibui, Madelinetosh, Anzula and Quince & Co. I would have to say I especially love Anzula Dreamy.
