Yarn Club Year 3 – Package Details

Year 3 of our 12 month Yarn Club explored some of our favorite fandoms with packages which included yarns, patterns and extras all tied to one theme. Below you’ll see what we came up with for each of the six packages. The club lasts for 12 months and you receive a package ever other month.  If you are interested in joining our current club you can get details here

Below you’ll see the items we included in all the packages in Year 3:

Package #1 – Avengers: Infinity War

We started out the year with a fandom that is very near and dear to our hearts – Avengers: Infinity War, the movie Maridee’s husband spent over a year working on and Barbra is just obsessed with.

Since this movie is all about the Infinity Stones, we knew the color had to be tied to them too and Apple Tree Knits was able to turn them into a stunning gradient. This yarn is a new one for Apple Tree Knits Copper Sock – Gradient 88% sw merino, 12% copper-infused nylon, 3-ply) 435 yards. This yarn feels amazing and is a dream to work with and the two designs we included really showed off this wonderful yarn!

And the extra included in this package was the Maker’s Keep bracelet from CocoKnits.  Sometimes when you are a super hero you need some tools to help you battle the evil forces, with this package we included one of our favorite tools. This silicone slap bracelet sports a brushed steel-plated magnet, has measuring lines for inches and centimeters on the underside, and fits any size wrist. This bracelet’s magnet helps keep all our tools close at hand for any crafting super hero moments.

 Package #2 – Outlander

This package is all about the lovely show Outlander. This beautiful and sexy show is one of our favorites and a must have for this club.

For this color, it’s all about the beautiful greens of Scotland where the show takes place. Apple Tree Knits once again created a beautiful color we just adore. This yarn is their Groovy Fingering, a wonderful 100% superwash merino, the kind of fabulous yarn you might want to wear in chilly Scotland.  Our designers once again did amazing work and created two wonderful pieces.

For the extras in this package, we made sure our club members are never without the tools you need, just like Claire from the show.  The tapestry needles and snips, from CoCoKnits, included are not only helpful in a crafter’s toolbox but they are also designed to work with the Maker’s Keep magnetic bracelet we included in the first package.  We also included some yummy Outlander tea from our friends at Geeky Teas & Games.

Package #3 – Harry Potter – Hogwarts Express

The third package in this year’s Yarn Club is themed to Harry Potter.  So many people love these books and films and we knew we had to include something fun in our Yarn Club of Nerdy themes! For the Harry Potter color, it was a bit challenging to choose just one image, especially when there are so many great ones to pick. We went with an iconic image of something that is very important to Harry and his pals and gets them to the location of most of their greatest adventures.

The inspiration for this color is the iconic Hogwarts Express. Apple Tree Knits created another amazing color by converting our inspiration into a yarn reality! This yarn is a new base for them too. It’s Ethereal DK, a wonderful combination of mulberry silk and superwash merino. This 50/50 blend is wonderfully soft and will be lovely in a wide variety of pieces!

For the package extra, we added another great tool. Many of us crafters love school supplies and we love knit and crochet tools too so we included the super popular leather measuring tape bracelets.

Package #4 – Sex and The City

The fourth package in this year’s Yarn Club was themed to Sex and the City. We love all four of the ladies featured in this groundbreaking show and enjoyed following along through the years, watching their different stages of our life and love, and definitely having identified with each one at different times. We chose an inspiration image that features the ladies doing what they do best, having a great time together. Plus, it’s girly and whimsical, which is what we wanted for the color.

Apple Tree Knits created a beautiful and girly colorway for this package and to keep with the “girly” feel, we put this color on their Silklin Light Fingering base – a combination of Tussah Silk (65%) and Linen (35%) in a 2-ply yarn with 756 yards. The drape of this yarn is wonderful and both of the patterns show this off really well!

For this package extra, we wanted something luxurious and very unique. Our customers have fallen in love with the Yarn Balm we carry on the truck from our friends at Stinging Nettle Apothecary. Yarn Balm is a specially formulated solid lotion designed specifically for knitters, crocheters, spinners or anyone who works with yarn and fiber. Its smooth application allows you to put on just the amount you need, and once you massage it in, you are ready to pick up your handwork again! We worked with Stinging Nettle Apothecary and created our own exclusive scent which we feel fits perfectly with this package. It is a s a wonderfully girly scent with Jasmine, Sweet Orange & Vanilla.

Package #5 – Yzma, The Emperor’s New Clothes

The theme for our fifth package in this year’s Yarn Club was Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove. This package was near and dear to Barbra’s heart. As you may know Barbra’s Uncle was an animator for Disney and he is an amazing artist. He did the adorable note cards that you can get on the Truck.

While he has animated many different characters Barbra’s favorite has always been Yzma the sassy villain in The Emperor’s New Groove. She was an obvious choice when looking for a Disney theme… and she’s purple! One of our favorite colors! Apple Tree Knits created a beautifully complex variegated yarn color based off of Yzma. The base used for this colorway was Luxe Fingering, is a gorgeous 51% Silk and 49% Merino blend that is just so dreamy.

For the extras in this package, we included something very special from Barbra’s Uncle, Dale Baer, the animator who created the Character of Yzma . We asked Dale to create a drawing of Yzma knitting. To go along with the cards, we’ve included a fun enamel pin from Nerd Bird Makery. We chose to include their Baller Enamel Pin, a cheeky yet subtle enamel pin which is a fun representation of those of us who craft with yarn!

Package #6 – Star Trek

Our final package theme was Star Trek. The fabulous world of Federation, Vulcans, transporters and traveling among the stars has been a nerd’s favorite for generations. Doesn’t matter who your favorite captain is, or if you love them all, Star Trek is a show that brings everyone together.

Our colorway for this package reflects the “Voyages of the Starship Enterprize” and how the ship and crew traveled at “warp speed” to get to each new planet on their travels! Apple Tree Knits used her magic and converted our inspiration into a beautiful gradient colorway to reflect it. The base used for this colorway is the wonderful Plush Fingering, a 100% superwash merino in a 2-ply structure that is just a joy to work with.

For the package extra, we tried our best to keep with the space theme!  We included a wrap per inch gauge from our friends at Retromantic Fripperies! Plus, who doesn’t need good light when you’re crafting, or attempting space travel! To help out with both, we included a Yarnover Truck Head Lamp.

We have some great things planned for Year 4 of the Yarnover Truck Yarn Club and we hope you will join in the fun! We are so excited to explore happiness through beautiful hand-dyed gradients yarns, new patterns and fun extras!
