Yarnover Truck is Closing

It’s time for the Yarnover Truck to get off the road permanently.  It’s been an incredible 9 years, and you all have been wonderful in your support of Debbie and me – and Barbra too, at the beginning! I know this news will come as a surprise to many, but know this was not an easy decision for me. Over the past year or so, my heart hasn’t been in it like before, not to mention the Truck is a very physically demanding job.  I’m definitely starting to feel my age more and more.

Over the next two months of May and June, we’ll be doing a “Farewell Tour.” It would be so good to see as many of you as possible.  We’ve planned 13 different stops hitting many of our usual locations between now and the end of June.  All of the stops on the Farewell Tour have been added to our Event Calendar or you can read the blog post about the tour.

As the Farewell Tour begins, all of the items inside the Truck will be marked down.  Throughout the tour, items will continue to be marked down, and some might get added.  My recommendation is to come early during the Farewell Tour for the best selection!  Online Shop prices will be discounted, too, but it may not happen right away.

The Farewell Tour will wrap up at the end of June. At that time, I plan to open an official Going Out of Business Sale at a permanent location.  It will be like a “Pop-Up” shop.  I’m currently on the hunt for a space to rent for just one month to bring out all the items we’ve acquired through the 9 years of doing business. Grid walls, hooks, shelves, bins, chairs, baskets, mannequins, computer equipment, plus the materials used at Stitches shows, and so much more!  I’m cleaning out our storage unit, plus my house, so there will likely be lots of fun random stuff available.

Mark Your Calendar! Saturday, July 9th Barbra will be in town, and we’re going to throw a little party to kick off our Going Out of Business Sale and as a sendoff for our Yarnover Truck business!  Many of you came out in 2013 to attend our Kick-Off Party, and we’re hoping this will be just as much fun, even if a little bit sad!  Once we have the location secured and more details confirmed, I’ll tell you all about it!

Closing a business is more complicated than you might think, and there is a lot to manage and discontinue. Here are some critical things tied to the closing that will be important to know.

Stitch 'N Pitch 2022

We’re doing one more Stitch ‘n Pitch game!! The game will be at Dodger Stadium on Friday, August 19th.  We’re partnering with The Altered Stitch for this game, so hopefully, they can take over this fun event in the future.  Our tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, May 17th, so mark your calendar.  Tickets for the games at Dodger Stadium ALWAYS sell out, and this year will likely be no different!  If you want to go, plan to buy your tickets on May 17th, otherwise tickets might not be available.  I’ll be sharing more of the game and ticket details in next week’s email.

Yarnover Truck Gift Cards

If you have a Yarnover Truck Gift Card, we ask you to use it as soon as possible.  We will be accepting gift cards until June 30, 2022.  Unfortunately, gift cards no longer work in our Online Shop.

To redeem your gift card, you can either visit the Truck during our Farewell Tour or reach out via email, and we will help you apply it to a purchase. Again, your gift cards DO NOT work in the Online Shop, so please reach out for help using them if you can’t make it to the Truck.

Road Crew Reward Points

Our Road Crew Rewards program has ended.  You might have noticed that you have not earned any reward points from purchases made since April 1st.  Plus, we allowed you to use earned rewards on sale merchandise during our Birthday Sale last month for the first time.  This was done to allow you to use up the earned rewards.

Many of you still have earned rewards to spend.  Please use these by June 30, 2022.  These earned rewards can be used on all merchandise.  Remember you need our help to use rewards when purchasing online.

If you want to redeem points but can’t make it to the Truck, you will need to do a little bit of work.  Please use the Online Shop to see what you’d like to buy. DO NOT complete your purchase instead, email us a list of the items you want to buy, or send us a photo of items you might have added to our cart.  Be sure to also tell us where you live so we know if we need to add sales tax.  Then, we can then apply your points and send you a PayPal invoice to complete the sale.

Shop Samples

If you’ve made a shop sample for us, it will be returned to you. If you can visit us during the Farewell Tour, let us know.  That is the easiest way to get your sample.  We’ll be reaching out to those makers who do not live locally to make arrangements for getting your samples back to you.

We have Truck-owned samples on sale during our Farewell Tour.  If you can’t make it to see us on the Truck, you can shop our sample sale in our Online Shop

Weekly Virtual Stitch Group

Our Virtual Stitch Group will be continuing.  I’m planning to continue hosting until the end of June. After that, my friend and knitwear designer Amy Snell will be taking over the hosting duties!  There will be a new Zoom link and password to use when joining the group. We’ll be sharing these as the handoff gets closer.

Super Nerdy Yarn Club

The Super Nerdy Yarn Club will continue as planned through the end of Year 4. Color #5 shipments will be sent out at the end of May, with the final shipment and club color scheduled to ship at the end of July. This will not change. Plus, as we’ve done in years past, Leann and I like to offer some different ways to enjoy these beautiful club colors.  Be on the lookout for emails regarding this in early August!

Debbie the Yarnover Truck

We found a buyer for the Truck and she has been sold!  She will be staying in Southern California.  You might even see her in her new life!

I know this is a lot, and I’ve likely missed some important things. I’ll continue with our weekly emails and social media to keep you all informed as our Farewell Tour progresses.  If you have any questions about what I’ve covered here, please reach out.

Thank you again to all of you for joining me on this fun yarny ride we’ve been on for the past 9 years!  I appreciate each and every one of you! I’ve had a blast and hope you have too!

See you soon!
