2018 San Diego Yarn Crawl

It time for the 6th Annual San Diego Yarn Crawl and we are so excited to be part of it once again! We have lots of fun & beautiful things planned for you when you come to visit the truck during the 4 days of this exciting weekend of fibery goodness!  The crawl runs from Thursday, September 13th through Sunday, September 16th!

First up is our Yarn Trunk show from Destination Yarns.  Through a passion for travel and color, she translates places and experiences into vibrant colorways!  Check out our Blog Post about Destination Yarns to learn all about her and her yarns we will have during the Crawl.

We worked with Jeanne, the creative genius behind Destination Yarns,  to create a beautiful San Diego Yarn Crawl Exclusive colorway.  It’s called La Jolla Sunset and is in the Postcard base (Fingering weight – 80% Merino / 20% Nylon with 430 yards on each 110-gram skein – $29) and will be on the truck only while supplies last.

We will have four of her amazing bases will be on the truck and we will have 10 colors in each of the different bases.  Here are the base details:

Passport – is a fingering weight yarn perfect for socks. The fiber content is 80% Merino / 20% Nylon with 430 yards on each 110-gram skein. This is a brand new base from Destination Yarns and we’ll be some of the first to have it. The cost per skein is $28.

First Class MCN – a wonderfully soft MCN fingering weight yarn with a fiber content of 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere and 10% Nylon. Each skein has 400 yards and weighs 100 grams. The cost per skein is $34.

Note – a lovely 100% merino single ply fingering weight that is incredibly soft and has yardage to spare. Each skein has 475 yards and weighs 115 grams. The cost per skein is $28.

Silver Shiny DK – be dazzled by this DK weight yarn with 75% Superwash Merino Wool, 20% nylon, and 5% silver toned stellina. Each skein has 231 yards and weighs 100 grams. The cost per skein is $31.

Second on our list of fun things to check out are our Featured Yarns!  We are excited to have Dragonfly Fibers Djinni Sock and Damsel as our featured yarns for the Crawl and both will be available for 10% off during the crawl.  When you visit us you’ll see our regular stock of colors plus we have added in some special OOAK colors to give you lots to choose from!

Djinni Sock is a super soft fingering weight yarn with 420 yards per skein and made with 80% Merino,10% Nylon, and 10% Cashmere.  This yarn is a great choice if you want the luxury of cashmere on a tightly plied base to make your stitches pop!

Damsel is a 100% superwash merino sport weight yarn with 335 yards of lofty goodness.  Incredibly soft to the touch this is a great yarn for most projects – shawls, sweaters, cowls, swingy skirts, children’s clothes and more!

Third on our list of fun things to check out are our Free Patterns – we have one in Knit and one in Crochet!

Hilary Smith Callis has created a wonderful lacey cowl called the Estero Cowl.  This piece is made using Damsel and the cowl mimics the look of an asymmetrical triangular shawl wrapped around the neck making it easy to wear. Using just one skein of sport or a heavier fingering and knit flat this shawl-cowl hybrid is going to work up beautifully using stripes of stockinette and a simple lace pattern. This pattern will be free to all who visit the Truck during the crawl.

Our crochet pattern is a lightweight stole that combines lacey stitches between waves to give it structure called the King’s Cross Stole.  Created by Maridee Dangcil using 2 skeins of luxurious Djinni Sock, this is a stole that you are just going to want to wrap yourself in all the time. Again, this pattern will be given out free to all Crawlers.

Fourth on our list of fun things to check out is a Pattern Trunk show showing off the amazing work of Hilary Smith Callis. She has been designing and writing patterns since 2009.  Her first design is the well known Citron shawlette which was published on Knitty.com and has 13,000 projects on Ravelry!! We have several of her beautiful designs for you to see in person so you can appreciate her beautiful work!

Hilary has a unique connection to the Yarnover Truck.  In addition to working with us on several of our favorite patterns including PelagosTurri, & Poulia, Hilary and Barbra were both students at the same Ballet School in Modesto when they were younger! The funny part is that neither of them remembers dancing together but we sure do enjoy working with her on yarny projects!  Be sure to stop by to see these patterns plus more her beautiful work!

Last, but not least, on our list of fun things to check out 2018 San Diego Yarn Crawl Tote!  We do still have quite a few in stock so you can order yours from our Online Shop and pick it up during from the Truck during the crawl, just let us know which shop you will be visiting us at to pick it up when you order!
