Stitches SoCal 2018

We are so excited and hope you will come out and join us at Southern California’s newest fiber event – Stitches SoCal! We know this show will be a big success and we have a bunch of fun things planned which we think make our both a “must see” for everyone attending the show in Pasadena. Especially if you like hand-dyed yarns plus new beautiful knit & crochet patterns!

Our booth, AND TRUCK, we will be in towards the back of the showroom floor (Booth # 735, 737, 739, 834, 836 & 838)

Two Yarn Trunk Shows featuring Dragonfly Fibers & Western Sky Knits

When you come and visit our booth, you’ll see that we drive Debbie, our truck, onto the showroom floor (well Maridee does the driving into the Convention Center) plus we have some of our yarny pals joining us in our booth. This year we are hosting trunk shows of yarns from Dragonfly Fibers and Western Sky Knits!

DRAGONFLY FIBERS:  Our very talented friend Kate, of Dragonfly Fibers, is sending us 8 of her bases all the way from the East Coast! Plus Nancye, from her team, will be joining us in our booth all weekend! Be sure to come by and say “Hi”!

The 8 different bases will be displayed in our booth outside the truck. You’ll be able to touch, feel and buy 4 wonderful Fingering weights and 2 beautiful Sport weights, and one each of a DK and a Worsted weight. Here are all the base details:

  • Dharma – a blend of 50% Yak and 50% Silk in a light fingering weight with 480 yards in a 3.99 oz. skein at $44
  • Djinni Sock – a fingering weight blend of 80% Merino, 10% Cashmere & 10% Nylon with 420 yards in a 3.99 oz. skein at $33

We have a wide variety of colors in these bases – colors that we don’t typically have in our stock on the Truck so you will definitely want to see these beauties!

WESTERN SKY KNITS: We know how much many of you love the yarns we carry from Western Sky Knits, so asked our friend Kim from WSK to send us 4 bases that we don’t typically carry for us to include in this show.

You’ll be able to see the four bases inside the Truck, displayed on our Feature wall. Kim sent us 2 fingering weights, 1 sport plus her brand new worsted weight. Here are all the yarny details:

New Exclusive Color – Kaleidoscope

In addition to the all the wonderful colors we’ll have in our booth from Dragonfly Fibers, we are also debuting the Yarnover Truck’s newest Exclusive Color. It is called Kaleidoscope!   We worked with Kate and her team to create this one-of-a-kind color and we really feel they did an amazing job!

Kaleidoscope is a beautiful combination of the four semi-solid colors we carry on the Truck from Dragonfly Fibers – District 12, Dragon Wagon, Jocelyn & Blue Velvet. We combined these colors into an inspiration image using an iPhone app which creates kaleidoscope images (this is where the name came from). Here’s the image we sent to Kate.  She did an amazing job in capturing all the elements into this color!!

Kaleidoscope is making it’s debut at Stitches SoCal! This will be the first place that you can buy it but it will have a permanent place on the truck after this show too! We have it now in Djinni Sock but will be adding it into the other Dragonfly Bases we carry on the truck very soon!

New Pattern Releases

We worked with two of our favorite designers and asked them to create new pieces using this beautiful new color.  Both used Kaleidoscope along with other Dragonfly Fibers colors and they have come up two amazing designs.

Tinctured by Karen Whooley

This beautiful crochet piece is created using Kaleidoscope along with Jocelyn in Djinni Sock.

California Waves by Afifa Sayeed

This gorgeous knit shawl is created using Kaleidoscope along with Blue Velvet in Djinni Sock.

These wonderful pieces will also be debuting at Stitches SoCal. You’ll be able to buy the yarns and the patterns all weekend long! We will have samples of both on display so you can check them out up close, see the beautiful colors and fabrics created, and feel these amazing yarns in person.

We will also have several other pieces from both of these designers displayed in our booth during the show so you can see more of their amazing work.  Plus Afifa will be doing a Meet & Greet on Saturday, November 3rd from 1:00pm – 3:00pm.  Be sure to stop by and see all her work and chat with her about her beautiful patterns.

Fun Things To Do – Stitch Marker Swap & Scavenger Hunt

In addition to seeing all the beautiful hand-dyed yarns we’re bringing, we have two other great reasons to come and visit our booth.  when you visit our booth you can take part in two super fun experiences during the show – the Stitch Marker Swap and the Scavenger Hunt.

Stitch Marker Swap. This is a fun activity and lots of attendees participate.  You bring stitch markers you are willing to trade, either some you have or purchased.  There will be several meet-ups during the weekend (generally around 5ish outside the Marketplace) where you can meet with other attendees and swap markers.  Plus many of the vendors like us, will be swapping in our booths. Check out this thread on Ravelry for more details.

Then at the show be on the lookout for “Stitch Marker Sammy” buttons being worn by other shoppers or on display in vendor booths. This lets everyone know you’re a swapper!

Come by our booth and mention that you are swapper and you can get one of these . . .

Scavenger Hunt. This is a great way to explore the marketplace and see the vendors plus potentially win some excellent prizes.
Here’s how it works.  Before you get to the show, be sure to download any QR code reader to your phone.  Then when you get to the Stitches SoCal Marketplace, visit any of the participating vendors booth’s during the show and check their booth for a sign with a QR Code on display.  Scan it with you reader.  You’ll then be asked to input your name & email address, plus answer any questions that pop up and this is your entry to win! You get another entry for every participating vendor you visit during the show gets you another entry. It’s just that easy.

The prize collection is huge – every vendor contributed either some fabulous merchandise, or gift certificate, or both.   If you are attending the show more than one day, you’ll have more chances to win.  Each day there you can scan the QR code at each vendor and it will register another entry! The more entries, the higher your odds of winning! Here is a list of participating vendors and an FAQ on this Ravelry thread. Be sure to look for our QR code when you visit out booth to enter to win!

As you can see, we have lots of great things planned for Stitches SoCal! We hope this has peaked your interest and that you will come by and see us and all the beautiful things we have brought along with us!  See you soon!
