Indie Dyer Showcase – Destination Yarns

We are excited to announce our next Indie Dyer Trunk Show: Destination Yarns – starting with the San Diego Yarn Crawl and on the truck through October. We found Destination Yarns at Stitches West and fell in love with her passion for travel and color (oh, her colors!). Jeanne Stevenson translates places and experiences into vibrant colorways. We will have four of her amazing bases on the truck and we will have 10 colors in each of the different bases.

Based in the West Park neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio Jeanne Stevenson started building her company after working as an architect. Destination Yarns started on a train ride to Peru. Traveling with her husband she was inspired by the colors of the Andes passing by the train window. It was that gorgeous landscape’s colors that she wanted to have on her yarn. Once she was home she started to experiment with dye and translating places into yarn. That Christmas everyone received gifts of hand dyed yarn. Soon her knitting group was asking for more so she opened a small Etsy site with no expectations other than to fuel her growing passion. That was just over 10 years ago. Now, she has just opened a dye studio outside of her home.

Before Jeanne was dyer she already had a love of fiber arts. A knitter, spinner, and weaver. Her Grandmother, an avid fiber artist herself, taught Jeanne how to knit when she was a child. Jeanne is most proud of a Cherry Blossom Shawl in hand dyed lace weight that she made for that same Grandmother.  Since Jeanne has opened her dye studio space she is excited to explore teaching more. With the new space the studio has to offer she has been having fun offering workshops and events. It is a great new way for her to share her profession and love of fiber.

Her colorways truly do capture the locations that she wants to take you to through yarn. Here are just a few samples and are they gorgeous.

Coastal Fog – Airy shades of the fog that rolls in off of the coast.
Grand Central Station – The iconic ceiling mural of the Grand Central Terminal is captured in this stunning colorway.
Northern Lights – The stunning beauty of the northern lights captured in yarn!  Saturated jewel tones beginning with black with pops of navy, eerie green, and purples make this skein glow with vibrant hues.

We are excited about the 4 bases we will have her yarns in.

Passport – is a fingering weight yarn perfect for socks. The fiber content is 80% Merino / 20% Nylon with 430 yards on each 110-gram skein. This is a brand new base from Destination Yarns and we’ll be some of the first to have it. The cost per skein is $28.

First Class MCN – a wonderfully soft MCN fingering weight yarn with a fiber content of 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere and 10% Nylon. Each skein has 400 yards and weighs 100 grams. The cost per skein is $34.

Note – a lovely 100% merino single ply fingering weight that is incredibly soft and has yardage to spare. Each skein has 475 yards and weighs 115 grams. The cost per skein is $28.

For the San Diego Yarn Crawl, we worked with Jeanne to create a special crawl exclusive colorway. The colorway is called “La Jolla Sunset” and is inspired by this photo:

This color has been put onto the Passport base and will be on sale on the truck during the San Diego Yarn Crawl. The exclusive colorway is $29 per skein.  Grab yours quick!

Be sure to come find the truck before the end of October so you can see these beautiful colors.  Check our Calendar for when we will be near you.
